Antique globe (1910–1920) by Ludwig Julius Heymann for Wagner & Debes, Leipzig, in French language, made of papier, wood, brass and plaster with a papier‑mache sphere; 61 cm high, 31 cm diameter, in good condition with minor signs of aging and spots.
Description from the seller
Beautiful antique globe in the French language, designed by Ludwig Julius Heymann and published by Wagner & Debes in Leipzig at the end of the late 1910s to early 1920s.
Globes for the French market published by Wagner & Debes are exceptionally rare. This is the only one I have come across in the 40 years I have been collecting globes.
In addition, the condition of the globe is truly fantastic; the colors are as fresh as when it was made and the map sheet is nowhere faded. There is not a dent to be found either. It is truly in a state to dream about. Very, very rare.
The Ludwig Julius Heymann - Wagner & Debes globes are highly sought after because of the beautiful detailed and aesthetic map sheet, and the well-kept stand.
Good specimens are increasingly hard to find, and those that are found are usually in the usual German language. This French-language specimen is, as I already wrote above, exceptionally rare.
After the death of Ludwig Julius Heymann, the publisher moved from Berlin to Leipzig at the beginning of the 1900s and was soon taken over by the then-managing partners Wagner and Debes.
They continued the publisher for only a few years and already in the 1920s sold it to Paul Oestergaard of the Columbus publishing house.
An excellent opportunity to acquire a rare Heymann globe in the best possible condition.
Also look closely at the photos, they form an important part of the description.
