Antique Napoléon III style bronze and porcelain candelabrum from France, dating to circa 1850–1900, with a bronze base and upper section, 17 cm high, 15 cm wide, 15 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
It is a 19th-century candelabrum in full Napoleon III style, and it proves it at first glance: that mix of theatricality, visual weight, and ornamental refinement that defined French decoration in the latter half of the 19th century. The body combines silvered bronze and white porcelain, a very typical pairing of the period, where the metal lends solemnity and the ceramic introduces a luminous, gentle counterpoint.
The base, worked in bronze with volutes, stylized leaves, and small reliefs, has that almost architectural air that characterizes Napoleon III: nothing is flat, nothing is discreet, everything is designed to catch light and multiply it in every curve. Above it rises the porcelain body, bulging, clean, with a serene presence that balances the exuberance of the metal. That contrast between opaline white and silvery shine creates an elegant dialogue, very typical of luxury domestic objects of the Second Empire.
The upper part returns to bronze, with a candelabrum of smooth lines and a finial that continues the ornamental language of the set. The natural aging of the metal—shadows in the recesses and livelier reflections in the higher areas—enhances the volumes and adds depth, reminding us that this is a piece with history, not a recent reproduction.
Overall, it is a candelabrum that embodies the essence of the style: decorative, solid, slightly theatrical, and perfectly balanced between the fantasy of bronze and the purity of porcelain. A piece that not only illuminates but also clothes the space with character.
Shipped with certification and careful packaging.
