Max Modolo, an Italian maker, presents a 2026, hand‑made stoneware sculpture vase in white Avorio with Kurinuki carving, a unique piece measuring 24 cm high by 14 cm wide and 14 cm deep, weighing 2.5 kg and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Weight: 2.5 kg.
Large sculptural vase in stoneware, entirely handmade using the Japanese Kurinuki technique.
A unique, organic work, characterized by irregular shapes, natural cavities, and a strong sculptural expressiveness. The surface, rich in texture, craters and grooves, resembles coral formations or rocks weathered by time, creating a piece with a strong visual and tactile impact.
Technical details:
Material: high-temperature stoneware ceramic fired at 1230 °C
Technique: Kurinuki (direct carving from a solid block)
Dimensions: Height 24 cm × 14 cm × 14 cm
Weight: 2.5 kg
Color: Natural ivory white with delicate variations and traces of engobe
This piece perfectly combines function and sculpture: it can be used as a decorative vase or simply admired as an autonomous work of art. Its presence is imposing and sophisticated, perfect for modern, minimalist, or wabi-sabi interiors.
One-of-a-kind piece, signed by the artist on the bottom.
Conditions: Excellent condition, with no defects or restorations.
Ideal for collectors of contemporary ceramics, lovers of Japanese ceramics, and organic art.
Max Modolo creates these ceramics in his studio in Italy.
His research concerns the forms of ceramics and their finishing.
He is very interested in glazes developed by artists such as Guido Gambone and Marcello Fantoni and has always been drawn to the forms of Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.
