Description from the seller
White marble altar consecration slab with reliquary cavity and sealed relic - France or Papal States, 19th century
Liturgy plaque in veined white marble, engraved with the date 1893 and adorned with five finely relief-carved consecration crosses. This type of stone was traditionally integrated into a consecrated altar, the five crosses recalling the five wounds of Christ and the anointing points made during the dedication rite.
The lower part presents a cavity intended to receive the relics prescribed during the consecration of the altar, sealed by a red wax ecclesiastical seal. The seal, though showing normal wear, is still in place and constitutes an important element of authenticity.
Dimensions: 40 cm x 40 cm
Condition: Beautiful liturgical wear, slightly scratched surface, a few old chips, very nice mineral patina
The photos are an integral part of the object description and complete its presentation. They allow you to appreciate its condition and features. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.
The item will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
Happy bidding
In accordance with canon law (c. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred art object. The reliquaries it contains are not the subject of the transaction, but are included for their historical and cultural value.
