Description from the seller

Neoclassical silver monstrance – Joseph Convert, Lyon (1798-1809)

Neoclassical silver monstrance. It rests on a richly chased pyramid base with Eucharistic motifs, including the Lamb of God, the Trinity, and ears of wheat associated with the vine. The knot takes the form of an urn, surmounted by a sheaf of wheat entwined with tendrils, supporting a radiant glory arranged around a cloud. Lunule absent.

The piece bears the Coq hallmark, 1st title of the departments (1798-1809).
The silversmith’s hallmark corresponds to Joseph Convert, active in Lyon (vertical diamond with the initials J C, accompanied by a clover at the top and a dot at the point), used from 1798 to 1809 and then circa 1813 until before 1832.
Presence of the large departmental guarantee (80 for Fontenay in Vendée). An “ET” mark is also visible on the foot, near the title mark.

Weight: 755 g. Height: 51 cm. Presented in its original case.

Note: a ray to be resoldered (see photos)

A comparable monstrance, in vermeil and from the same workshop, is kept at the Église paroissiale Saint-Maurice d’Épersy (Savoie), catalogued under reference IM73000393.

Photos are an integral part of the description of the objects and complement its presentation. They allow assessing its condition and characteristics. Please examine them carefully before any engagement.

The object will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
