Antique liturgical chalice in solid 800 silver, hammered and chased, with vermeil cup – Italy (Fascist Period, 1934-1944)

Refined and majestic Catholic liturgical chalice in solid 800 silver, entirely handcrafted using the repoussé and chasing techniques. The structural design and decorative apparatus recall the splendor of Baroque and Neo-Renaissance styles, characterized by foliate motifs, beadwork on the base, and an elegant turned and decorated central knop that facilitates gripping. The cup features an internal vermeil gilding of original thickness, historically prescribed by the liturgy for direct contact with the consecrated wine. On the base are clearly impressed the Italian legal hallmarks: the oval “800” silver mark, attesting to the metal’s purity. Factory mark inside a truncated hexagonal lozenge containing the fasces, a historical element that allows dating the piece with absolute certainty to the decade 1934–1944 (Kingdom of Italy, Fascist period).
