Description from the seller
Magnificent 12-glass crystal liquor service from Sèvres in the 1960s-70s (model to be determined).
The Cristallerie de Sèvres (often associated today with the trade name Cristal de Sèvres) is a historic French glassmaking establishment, whose renown is closely linked to the history of tableware and luxury arts.
The original production site in Sèvres ceased industrial activity in the early 20th century (leaving its name to a district and a street in the commune), but the Cristal de Sèvres brand has survived through time.
- The "diamond" and "star" size: The cup (the upper part) features a deep cross-cutting size that catches the light, often called "diamond-point cutting", topped with star or palmette motifs on the rim. It is a classic in 20th-century tableware, very close to some iconic models (such as the Chenonceau model or similar creations by Baccarat or Saint-Louis).
- The faceted stem: The glass stem is not smooth; it is also worked with facets, which is a sign of high manufacturing quality.
- The starry foot: The base of each glass (the foot) features a radiating star cut underneath, a finish typical of luxury crystal makers to maximize light refraction on a tablecloth.
This kind of place setting generally includes different sizes to suit the various beverages at a big dinner (water glasses, red wine glasses, white wine glasses…). Here they are liquor glasses.
This is a magnificent series, particularly bright thanks to the density of its cut, which catches every ray of sunshine.
For this exact model, the absence of a mark is not uncommon and simply confirms production from the early period of the model.
In excellent condition. See the photos, they are an integral part of the description.
Fast and careful shipping with tracking worldwide.
