Description from the seller
Set of 12 wine glasses + 1 carafe in light crystal, with a superior clear tone, transparent, mouth-blown, featuring refined workmanship and richly detailed decorations. The bowl, broad and rounded (similar to a balloon or tulip shape), bears a refined acid-engraved motif (also called guilloché or pantograph) at the top. The decorative pattern is geometric and floral: it shows a continuous band of dense zig-zag waves, under which festoons or garlands frame small grape clusters or stylized floral elements hanging. Unknown producer. It bore a small oval metallic adhesive sticker in a gold-and-silver foil bearing the inscription "MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA," dating to the period between the 1960s and the 1980s (up to 1992) when it was removed by washing. This specific type of metallized adhesive foil sticker was applied to Bohemian glass intended for Western export during the Soviet bloc era, particularly under the control of the state foreign trade company Glassexport (active mainly in the 1960s–80s). The decorative style echoes the 60s/70s canon, a period when geometric festoon patterns and engraved garlands were extremely popular for tableware sets of wine glasses. A very luxurious service. It could have been a ceremonial service, a wedding gift for a prominent family, or an exclusive customized line for a large hotel, a private club, or a noble house. Measurements: glass height 14.2 cm x diameter 6.7 cm – carafe height 21.5 cm x diameter.
