Description from the seller
Set of 12 wine glasses + 1 bottle in light crystal, sonorous and superior, transparent, mouth-blown, characterized by refined workmanship and rich, detailed decorations. The cup, broad and rounded (similar to a balloon or tulip model), features a refined acid-etching (also called guilloché or pantograph) at the upper part. The decorative motif is geometric and floral: it shows a continuous band of fine interlacing waves (zig-zag) parallel, beneath which festoons or garlands develop that frame small bunches of grapes or stylized floral elements hanging. Unknown producer. It bore a gold- and silver-coated oval adhesive seal bearing the inscription "MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA" dating to the period between the 1960s and 1980s (up to 1992) when it was removed with washing. This specific type of metallized foil adhesive seal was applied to Bohemian glassware destined for Western export during the Soviet bloc era, particularly under the control of the state foreign trade company Glassexport (active mainly in the 1960s, '70s and '80s). The decorative style recalls the 60s/70s canon, periods in which geometric festoons and incised garland motifs were extremely popular for tableware sets. Luxury service of the highest class. It could have been a ceremonial service, a wedding gift for an important family, or an exclusive customized line for a major hotel, a private club, or a noble house. Size: glass height 10.9 x diameter 5.5 cm – bottle height 32.5 x diameter 12 cm.
