Bead (12) - Murano - Murano glass

African beads of the 'trade beads' type or millefiori beads. These come from glass workshops in Venice (Murano), made of glass using the millefiori technique ('millefiori'), which involves assembling multicolored rods and then cutting them into sections. They were exported to West Africa, where they became valuable objects, sometimes used as exchange currency. This collection includes 10 millefiori beads 'red flowers on a green background' and 2 millefiori beads with rare complex patterns.
