Description from the seller
Elegant and rare original Christofle tea service, dating from the early 1920s, expression of the excellence of French jewelry and the Art Déco taste.
The lot includes a teapot, a coffee pot, a sugar bowl and a milk jug, accompanied by an important Gallia service tray, Christofle production, which harmoniously completes the ensemble.
This model was exhibited in 1925 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where it was presented among the pieces of greatest interest of the exhibition dedicated to French decorative arts of the 20th century.
The dinnerware stands out for its remarkable brilliance and for an exceptional state of conservation, a quality increasingly difficult to find on objects with over a century of history.
The Gallia tray, however, shows signs of age consistent with its era: widespread black speckling on the surface, some signs of wear and oxidation, as well as normal signs of use visible on the back. All conditions are clearly documented in the photographs.
This is a historically and collectibly fascinating ensemble: the small imperfections of the tray do not compromise the overall elegance or the value of the service, but they attest to its authenticity and long history.
A rare opportunity for collectors and Christofle enthusiasts, with a service of great visual impact and accompanied by its original Gallia tray.
The lot will be shipped preferably with UPS.
