Bone needle case in bovine bone, Italian origin from Sicily, in Art Déco style dating to 1900–1910, titled Portaaghi in Osso, 9 cm long with a 13 mm base and an 11 mm opening, in good condition with minor wear and containing an original set of period needles.
Description from the seller
Antique needle holder in finely perforated bovine bone - Late 19th / Early 20th century
• Material: Bovine bone turned.
• Period: Late 19th century / Early 20th century (Late Victorian Era / Belle Époque).
• Detailed description: collection or travel needle holder in solid bovine bone. Refined craftsmanship with geometric openwork featuring concentric circle motifs. At the top of the cap there is the characteristic centering hole of the antique lathe (1 mm). The item is structurally solid and still contains a set of original needles from the period, some of which show partial historical contact magnetization.
• Dimensions: Length 9 cm; base diameter 13 mm; opening diameter 11 mm.
• Conditions: Good overall condition for its age. The internal thread of the screw closure shows a very small missing piece of about 3 mm in the last turn—a wear defect very common that does not compromise functionality: the cap screws on firmly and closes perfectly.
