Made in Italy, model optical white moiré fabric with a floral decor, crafted from cotton, silk and viscose, 150 cm wide and 730 cm long, in as-new condition and never used.
Description from the seller
This precious moiré fabric represents a rare example of that refined workmanship that creates shifting effects through the pressure and heat applied to the fiber. The optical white background color enhances the characteristic luminous undulation typical of moiré, producing that play of reflections and shadows that recalls marble veining or the ripples of water, an almost liquid effect that changes with light and the viewing angle.
On this background with fluid, changing hues, an elegant regular delicate decorative motif unfolds. Small stylized floral elements, resembling fans or shells, are arranged at rhythmic intervals across the entire surface, accompanied by thin vertical wavy elements that look like ribbons or braided cords, which traverse the fabric creating a vertical compositional structure. These motifs, also in optical white but with a slightly different texture that makes them emerge from the moiré base, alternate with tiny diamond-shaped geometric details that discreetly dot the composition.
The peculiarity of this moiré fabric lies precisely in its rarity: moiré work requires a particular technical expertise and not all fabrics lend themselves to this treatment. The resulting effect is extraordinarily sophisticated, with that glassy, iridescent surface giving the fabric a precious and sought-after appearance. The hand is soft yet substantial, and the fabric possesses that characteristic controlled rigidity that makes it perfect for high-end furniture applications or for structured garments that require formal elegance.
