Antique Russian icon with brass oklad – late 19th / early 20th century
Ancient Russian Orthodox icon painted in tempera on a wooden panel, with an embossed brass oklad/riza decorated with floral and geometric motifs.
The work features a religious composition with Christ at the top and figures of saints or apostles in the central scene. Due to wear on the painting surface, the precise subject identification remains difficult.
The icon appears authentic and consistent with late Tsarist devotional Russian production intended for private domestic use.
