Description from the seller

Beautiful Vintage Singer 216G Semi-Industrial Sewing Machine (1954) – Complete with cover & unique knee operation. In good working order. It does need a service check. But runs fine.

Discover an iconic and very complete piece of sewing machine history!

This gorgeous Singer Model 216G semi-industrial specimen was built in 1954 in the former Haid und Neu factory in Karlsruhe, Germany. This specific model is historically very interesting: it is one of the very first machines Singer released directly after acquiring this German manufacturer. Singer retained the iron-strong, cast-iron mechanism from Haid und Neu and gave the machine its own legendary brand name. This specimen is extra special because of the authentic knee control (instead of a foot pedal), providing a true semi-industrial experience. An absolute must-have for collectors and vintage design enthusiasts, now offered with the accompanying protective cover!

Why this model is unique:
Unique knee control: Instead of a standard foot pedal, this machine is operated with a knee lever. This provides an authentic, semi-industrial experience and keeps your hands completely free for guiding the fabric.
Extraordinary versatility: This semi-industrial powerhouse delivers pure precision. The machine easily stitches a perfect zigzag stitch in both delicate fabrics (like silk) and heavy materials (like canvas and leather).
Modern bobbin loading system: Equipped with a modern and user-friendly bobbin loading system, which was a huge leap forward compared with older models such as the 15K or 127/128K.
Beautiful 'Paperclips' decals: The machine is decorated with the official golden 'Paperclips' transfers. This minimalist, geometric Art Deco design from the 1930s to 1950s forms a beautiful contrast with the busier Victorian floral motifs of older models.
Original British Singer motor: Although the machine was built in Germany, the original electric motor (210/230 V) was produced in the legendary Singer factory in Kilbowie (Clydebank, Scotland). This is confirmed by the letter 'K' in the serial number on the motor plate (K759405).
The motor dates from exactly the same period (circa 1954) and therefore belongs with it originally!
