Description from the seller
Antique solid silver Persian box 875 / 84 zolotniki with hand-painted enamel miniature – Isfahan School – 1950s–1960s
Magnificent collectible box made of solid silver 875 thousandths, equivalent to 84 zolotniki, decorated with an extraordinary Persian miniature executed completely by hand following the artistic tradition of the prestigious Isfahan school.
The lid presents a refined Oriental scene: an elegant caravan of camels crosses a grand monumental square surrounded by turquoise-domed mosques, tall cypresses and historic buildings, with snow-capped mountains in the background. The composition recalls the famous urban views of Isfahan, long regarded as one of the greatest cultural and artistic centers of the Islamic world.
The painting quality is exceptional. Each figure has been rendered with great precision using ultra-fine brushes, creating a composition full of depth, light and color. The intense tones of the enamel, the delicacy of the architectural details and the balanced chromatics make the lid a true miniature work of art.
The body of the box is entirely made of solid silver and decorated with a delicate continuous manual engraving inspired by Persian motifs, composed of elegant vegetal and geometric designs that run around the entire perimeter of the piece. The interior preserves an excellent polished finish that reflects the high level of Iranian craftsmanship.
Boxes of this type were produced by artisan workshops in Isfahan and represent one of the most valued manifestations of Persian decorative art of the 20th century, where traditional silverware, miniature painting and enamel meet.
A small chip is present in a corner of the miniature, barely noticeable and not detracting from the extraordinary beauty or decorative value of the set.
The original patina has been carefully preserved.
