Brand Universel, model/type nr 16mm, physical condition reasonable and functional condition not tested, a 16 mm film camera with C-mount (serial no. 1093) dating from circa 1900–2000.
Description from the seller
One of the major features of the ultra-rare camera “Universel” — produced in very small numbers, with only about 500 units manufactured — lies in its modular design. Users could start with a simple-looking crank model and evolve it into a more refined and powerful version by adding various components. This advanced model is equipped with a robust mainspring motor, allows setting the shooting cadence between 8 and 64 frames per second (including the uncommon setting of 20 fps), and offers the possibility of frame-by-frame shooting. It also incorporates a reflex (TTL) viewfinder system as well as a motor-driven reverse mechanism powered by the mainspring, rather than by a dedicated crank. Film transport for 30-meter (100-foot) reels is provided by a double-claw mechanism. The mainspring motor operates correctly, as does the frame-rate adjustment; the finder includes parallax correction as well as interchangeable framing masks tailored to the focal length of the lens in use. The camera accepts interchangeable C-mount lenses. Finally, the camera benefits from an all-metal construction and shows a substantial weight of 4 kilograms.
However, no other precise tests have been conducted; no film tests have been performed.
