Episcopal ciborium in vermeil with amethyst cabochons – Edmond Lesage, Paris, late 19th century
Important episcopal ciborium in vermeil silver richly adorned with amethyst cabochons bezel-set, arranged on the lid, the knot and the foot. The inner cup is entirely gilded according to liturgical use. The domed lid is topped with a trilobed Latin cross.
The knot and the foot feature a rhythmic décor of amethysts in polylobed engraved frames, evoking the episcopal symbolism of liturgical violet.
Under the base is an engraved inscription mentioning “Monseigneur de Grammont,” indicating an episcopal destination.

– Minerva first standard (950‰)
