Large antique - Empire pendule - Bronze - 1800-1850

This richly appointed French pendulum clock shows a young woman seated beside a classical lyre, symbol of harmony, poetry and music. Next to the timepiece is a stringed instrument, while the case is adorned with various musical attributes and refined floral ornaments.

The rectangular base is richly decorated with laurel wreaths, ribbons and musical instruments in relief, executed with an exceptional quality of chasing.

The round dial is set in a beautifully decorated case and is framed by refined decorations that harmonize beautifully with the sculptural scene.

The pendulum dates from the early 19th century and forms an excellent example of French Empire style, in which classical antiquity was an important source of inspiration.

The timepiece has been recently overhauled, runs superbly and is, of course, supplied with pendulum, key and our guarantee of proper operation.
