Bronica Filmback EC. **Eddy van Wessel**
Bronica Filmback EC for use with the Bronica 6x6 cameras from the S2 / EC-series. In handsome vintage condition. Light signs of use. Bellows intact and smooth operation. Fits any Bronica 6x6 kit, such as the S2a.
A peculiarity is that the filmback belonged to a camera set that belonged to the well-known photographer Eddy van Wessel. During his studies at the Dutch Fotovakschool, Eddy used a Zenza Bronica ET-CL Pro camera with various lenses. After his studies he sold the set. Proof of original ownership is a small handwritten note describing the set at the time of sale (for the photo accompanying this lot some personal data has been redacted; the original still contains it). A special collector’s item with proof of ownership.
War photographer Eddy van Wessel has won the Silver Camera four times. The last time was in 2022 with a photo series about IS families on the run in Syria. And more recently in the war in Ukraine. As a photographer, Eddy van Wessel (born 1965) works in various conflict and disaster zones. His photos are published in international magazines such as Stern, Paris Match, Le Monde2 and The Washington Post Magazine. He won the Silver Camera in 2015 for his series 'Sinjar, the battle for Highway 47'. These photographs depict the fight against IS in Iraq and Syria. Eddy won the Silver Camera again in 2012. The jury of this prestigious award regards Van Wessel's work as being of unprecedented quality.
