Wax phonograph cylinders from the late 1800s to the early 1900s from the Anglo American Commerce Company of Milan. Distributed by the firm R. Jaforte in Naples, located at 31 Via Chiaia. Between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this historic Neapolitan firm was known for marketing electro-medical devices and for the production of pharmaceutical preparations. During the birth of Thomas Edison’s phonograph, the Jaforte firm handled the distribution and engraving of wax phonograph cylinders. The lot for sale consists of 51 cylinders, each with its own case, with engravings related to major works of classical music (Aida, Manon Lescaut, Lucia di Lammermoor, Africana, Mignon, Rigoletto, La Gioconda, Mefistofele, Guglielmo Tell and others).
