Unusual English Sterling Silver Casserole Dish with Wooden Handles – Early 20th Century
London assay mark, 1959, and same date marker's mark Maker S.J. Phillips. Provenance from a New York Estate.
Attractive and unusual English sterling silver casserole dish, dating from the early 20th century, displaying a refined yet functional design typical of high-quality British silverware.
The piece is crafted in solid sterling silver, with a deep, rounded body and a clean, understated form. It is fitted with two opposing wooden handles, mounted in silver brackets, offering both practicality and a pleasing contrast between the warm tones of the wood and the bright silver surface.
The interior and underside bear clear English sterling silver hallmarks, confirming authenticity and quality (see photos).
