Flared cup on a footed bronze base from the Western Zhou dynasty (1100-771 BC)
Outer walls adorned with relief incised Taotie mask friezes.
Below, an inscription is engraved in the bronze
On the footed base, a frieze of incised relief decorates the outer wall above a swelling.
On each side symmetrically, a Taotie mask in relief holds a ring.
Very fine green, blue, and red patina, forming thick calcified crusts in places.
The condition of the bronze has been stabilized by a chemical treatment after excavation to prevent degradation upon contact with air.
Deformation and loss at the neck
