Description from the seller
Antique Singer sewing machine (Model 15) from 1908 •
Desktop model with wooden cover & original key
This model belongs to the legendary Singer 15-series. This type of machine was originally introduced in 1879 and grew into the most successful and reliable sewing machine in the world.
It is the machine with which the Singer empire was built and that is synonymous with unmatched, old-fashioned quality.
Special historical details of this machine:
Year of manufacture & origin:
Produced in the year 1908 in the renowned Singer factory in Wittenberge (then Prussia, Germany).
Rare serial number: Equipped with the original metal plate with serial number C631999. The coveted 'C-series' proves that this machine is a pure German quality product. Many archives from this factory were lost after World War II, which makes this specimen extra historic.
Beloved "Tiffany" pattern: The machine is decorated with the iconic, gold-shiny "Tiffany" (also known as Gingerbread) transfers. The detailed gold flowers and leaves are still strikingly bright and neat for a machine almost 120 years old.
Condition of the machine:
The wooden cover snaps firmly into the latch and opens easily with the original key.
The machine is an absolute eyecatcher and a gorgeous decorative piece for the living room, a shop window, or a creative sewing studio.
The machine does need cleaning and an oiling service. The machine is 100% in order but currently does not run. It does have a bit of movement. I did say it does work when serviced because that is true after a bit of attention. I am 100% sure it can be easily brought back to working condition (with a good clean). I (long ago) have actually seen it running. I simply don’t have time for it now.
Dimensions closed with cover: 50 x 35 x 22 cm. Weight: 17 kilograms.
Serial no: G631999
