This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The method of knotting and the variety of patterns make this rug unique and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character.
Exceptionally well-preserved Nomad rug. An impressive runner full of stories, told by its imperfections. These irregularities belong to this runner: while nomadic, this special piece was hand-knotted by the Qashqai nomads, around 1960.
While nomadic, these tribes knotted these rugs, with each time a different composition of natural ingredients for the dye bath. This results in beautiful abrash, natural color variation between them. After knotting, these rugs were sold in the nearest big city, Shiraz. In this city these famous Qashqai carpets were later (re)knotted and received the name Shiraz. The original Nomad rugs of the Qashqai tribe (or Ghasgai) remain particularly popular. Just looking at this rug brings countless stories to the surface, fully open to personal interpretation.
Main color: Brick
Details: Each rug has a lighter and a darker side (wing). Made of 100% natural materials. Full, thick and cushioned rug. A remarkable object full of stories, hand-knotted around 1960. Beautiful runner with great colors. In a particularly good condition for its age.
