Germany, Westphalia, 10 Mark Notgeld from 1921, graded AU58 BN by NGC.
Description from the seller
GERMANY. Westphalia. 10 Mark. 1921.
- Value: 10 Mark.
- Year: 1921.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: FRH. WILH. V. FÜRST VON FÜRSTENBERG. Reverse: NOTGELD · PROVINZ WESTFALEN · 10 MARK · 1921.
- Grade: AU58 BN (NGC).
Bronze coin issued as Notgeld by the Prussian province of Westphalia in 1921, within the series of emergency coins created to address the currency shortage in the early years of the Weimar Republic. The obverse features the portrait of Franz Wilhelm von Fürstenberg, a prominent reformer, educator and statesman of Westphalia, depicted in profile with a sober and elegant style, surrounded by his name in Gothic characters. The reverse shows the galloping horse, a traditional symbol of Westphalia, accompanied by the Notgeld legend, the province name, the face value of 10 Mark and the issue date. The specimen preserves an attractive original brown color, corresponding to the BN designation, with slight wear only at the high points of the relief, maintaining much of the original mint luster and excellent definition of the details, fully in line with the AU58 BN grade awarded by NGC. This issue constitutes a representative testimony of the monetary solutions adopted by the German regional authorities before the outbreak of the great hyperinflation of 1923.
Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to leave absolutely clear that I do ship from Spain, which means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside EU that has special tax agreement (example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and it is completely out of our control. Thanks for your understanding.
