Description from the seller

For sale: a remarkably beautiful Opel Blitz camper from 1963. A rare and fully restored classic with enormous charm. This iconic vintage camper is a real eye-catcher and perfect for holidays, events, or as a collectible.

Technical condition
The Opel Blitz has been fully restored since 2020 and thoroughly serviced mechanically. The engine has been completely rebuilt and runs smoothly, both cold and warm. The engine runs on petrol as well as LPG (2 LPG tanks) but is best tuned for LPG. The manual 4-speed gearbox shifts well, the clutch is still in good condition. The camper starts reliably and drives comfortably for a vehicle of its age.
The tires have been replaced and are in good condition, the brakes are also in good condition but will need attention in the not-too-distant future. The rear axle uses a Hanomag suspension with dual air springs.

Bodywork and paint
In 2020 the camper was repainted to the current blue/white livery. The blue color is an original paint shade from the 1960s. There are minor signs of use around the edges such as rust spots (see photos) and on the right rear there are a few small scratches. In 2020 the pop-top was installed, equipped with 3 windows with screens.
All windows function properly (4 in total, open and close, manually). Lighting is also in order. The vehicle was converted in 2020 from a 6V to a 12V system and is equipped with an auxiliary battery (second battery).

Interior condition
The interior is in virtually new condition. The cushions on the benches/bed are custom-made from memory foam. The front seats are appropriate for the age and show light signs of use. The dashboard is painted in colors matching the exterior.
Inside the camper you have a kitchenette with water supply and fresh water tank, a two-burner gas stove. One of the burners sometimes emits a false draft but it does function. The fridge runs on 12V and 220V and has a removable freezer compartment. There are two large cupboards built-in and under the seats there is plenty of storage. There are many power outlets around the living/sleeping area. There are currently two sleeping places, but the pop-top provides the possibility to create two additional sleeping places. The frame of the pop-top is prepared for this.

Documentation
Upon sale, registration papers are provided. Workshop manuals are also available if desired.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
