Description from the seller
It is a piece that preserves that solemn, almost diplomatic air of humidors built for tobacco houses with international ambition. The box, crafted in reddish mahogany with a deep polish, shows on the exterior a sober yet elegant workmanship: incised lines that frame the two front doors and, in the center of each, the engraved crest of C.E. Beck y Ca., the German firm based in Havana in the early 20th century, when Cuba was the world epicenter of fine tobacco. Beneath the doors, the inscription '30 Placeres' recalls the original content, almost like a promise of the era.
When opened — and you can notice the quality of craftsmanship here — the interior appears in Spanish cedar, the traditional wood for preserving cigars for its aroma, its stability, and its ability to regulate humidity. The contrast between the exterior mahogany and the interior cedar is warm, almost architectural, as if the box were designed to be both a container and a small desktop piece of furniture.
The condition is exceptional: the wood retains its shine, the hinges operate smoothly, and the original key, still present, adds that authentic touch that rarely survives a century of life. It is a humidor that not only speaks of the history of Cuban tobacco but also of the foreign presence that helped expand it, and today it stands as a collectible object with quiet, perfectly preserved elegance.
Certified shipping and careful packing.
