Royal Copenhagen hand-painted porcelain sculpture of a Koperwiek (Turdus iliacus), model 1235, designed by Ingeborg Nielsen, produced in Denmark in the second half of the 20th century (1960–1970), in excellent vintage condition with dimensions 14 cm high, 17 cm wide and 7.5 cm deep, weighing 299 g.

Royal Copenhagen – Redwing (Turdus iliacus) – model 1235 – designed by Ingeborg Nielsen – hand-painted porcelain – Denmark
A gorgeous and lifelike porcelain sculpture of a Redwing (Turdus iliacus), produced by the world-renowned Danish porcelain house Royal Copenhagen to a design by Ingeborg Nielsen (1911–1995). The figure bears model number 1235 and belongs to the beloved naturalistic animal figures with which Royal Copenhagen has achieved international renown.
Ingeborg Nielsen is regarded as one of the leading designers of animal figures for Royal Copenhagen. Her designs are praised for their refined detailing, anatomical accuracy, and lifelike appearance. In this model the Redwing is depicted on a branch covered with berries, with the graceful posture, subtle color nuances and carefully rendered plumage impressively captured.
The sculpture is made of high-quality porcelain and hand-painted using the traditional underglaze technique. This characteristic technique, for which Royal Copenhagen is renowned worldwide, ensures a durable decoration with rich color depth and a soft satin gloss.
The underside features the original Royal Copenhagen factory mark with the distinctive three blue wave lines, the hand-painted model number 1235, the decorator's signature and the impressed model number. In addition, the foot rim bears the impressed factory code “SB,” an internal production mark of Royal Copenhagen.
