Description from the seller

Rare antique liqueur/wine set Art Nouveau around 1900 – green hand-blown glass with raised enamel miniature painting & gold rim (7-piece) – from German family estate / dowry

Description:
For auction is a remarkably well-preserved, 7-piece glass set from the Art Nouveau / Historicism period (around 1900).

The ensemble is a genuine heirloom from German family ownership and originally belonged to the historical dowry (bridal portion) of the seller’s great-great-grandmother. It was made in the famous glass region of Bohemia (Central Europe).

The set consists of a large, heavy carafe and six perfectly matching tumblers made of green, hand-blown glass in the classic Waldglas style.

All pieces impress with masterful, noticeably raised enamel relief painting featuring autumnally shaded grape leaves and deep violet berries, complemented by fine gold embellishments.

The authentic handmade craftsmanship is evident in the charming, minimal air inclusions in the glass as well as the cleanly ground trimming marks on the sturdy bases.

Dimensions & weights:
1x Carafe:
Height approx. 32 cm
Width approx. 15.8 cm
Weight: 1035 g

6x Glasses:
Height approx. 14.5 cm
Weight: between 191 g and 204 g per glass

Condition:
Thanks to decades of careful storage in a display cabinet, the set is in excellent condition:
Glass & Painting:
Absolutely flawless. No cracks, chips or nibbling. The enamel painting is 100% intact, clear and color-intense on all pieces.

Gilding:
The delicate gold rims on the foot bases are complete on all 7 pieces and free of imperfections.

For 3 of the glasses, the upper rim is also perfect.

The upper rim of the carafe shows age-related gold wear at the spout (see detail photo).

2 glasses show light to moderate gold wear at the upper rim, another glass has somewhat stronger wear there.

The set is packed for worldwide transport in an extremely secure and careful double box and shipped as an insured parcel with tracking.
