Description from the seller
Luigi Filippo Console in Lombard Walnut – Mid-19th Century
This magnificent console represents an excellent testimony to the Luigi Filippo style, produced in Lombardy around the middle of the 19th century. The style, which spread during the reign of Louis-Philippe of Orléans, is distinguished by a return to softer, more sinuous lines compared to the previous Neoclassicism, while maintaining a solidity and formal dignity perfect for furnishing noble houses and the upper middle class of the era.
The use of Lombard walnut is evident in the dense grain and the warm, deep tone of the wood, typical of North Italian cabinetmaking productions. The piece preserves its splendid original patina, underscoring its authenticity and historical life.
This console is a piece of great antiquarian importance, perfect for furnishing an entrance hall, a spacious corridor, or a drawing room, acting as a true wooden sculpture capable of capturing attention.
