Description from the seller
Early 20th Century French Majolica Tree Trunk & Lily Vase – Naturalistic Design
This charming French majolica vase beautifully captures the elegance of the Art Nouveau taste for nature-inspired decorative arts. Sculpted as a textured tree trunk adorned with vibrant ivy leaves and flanked by two large trumpet-shaped lily flowers, it is a striking decorative piece that combines artistic craftsmanship with practical functionality.
Crafted in glazed earthenware in France during the early 20th century, the vase features richly coloured naturalistic glazes, with warm brown bark, vivid green foliage, creamy white blossoms accented with soft purple tones, and a turquoise-glazed interior. The finely modelled details and expressive organic forms make it an attractive addition to any majolica, Art Nouveau, or botanical ceramics collection.
Origin: France, early 20th century.
Material: Glazed earthenware (majolica).
Dimensions: Height: 23 cm (9.06 in); Width: 22 cm (8.66 in); Depth: 10 cm (3.94 in).
The vase remains in good antique condition overall, displaying an attractive craquelure consistent with its age. There are a few small chips and minor losses visible on the flower rim and upper edge, as shown in the photographs, without compromising its decorative appeal or structural integrity.
A beautifully sculpted and highly decorative French majolica vase, perfect for collectors of antique ceramics, Art Nouveau design, or naturalistic decorative objects.
