French centrepiece dating to 1850–1900, a crystal bowl set in a hand-crafted gilded bronze framework with geometric and floral decoration, weighing about 3.5 kg and measuring 27 × 27 × 19 cm.
Description from the seller
A refined and sumptuous centerpiece (bowl) of antique provenance, an exquisite example of European artistic craftsmanship from the mid-19th century (full Empire/Napoleon III style).
The work is composed of a sumptuous, heavy-cut crystal basin finely faceted with diamond-point geometric motifs, capable of reflecting light with extraordinary brilliance. The crystal is elegantly set and supported by a monumental finely worked structure in bronze, entirely gilded and hand-engraved.
The circular base in gilded bronze, rich with chased geometric and floral decorations, extends laterally into two majestic handles finely worked in high relief, recalling classical anthropomorphic and phytomorphic elements (mythological masks and volute motifs). The quality of the bronze chasing and the purity of the crystal suggest the handiwork of an important French or European workshop active in the 19th century.
A piece of high antiquarian value, ideal as a central element for formal dining tables or as an exclusive interior decorative object for prestigious interiors.
