Description from the seller

Antique Porcelain Table Service in Era (Bavaria, Germany) – 56 Pieces – Carl Schumann Arzberg Manufacture (c. 1920-1925) – Certified Antique (+100 years) – Accompanied by a Limoges Porcelain Serving Platter offered.
Provenance & Lot History (Exclusive asset for collectors):
This service is more than just dinnerware; it is a true witness to European history. It comes directly from the clearance of an old bourgeois family home in Épinal (border region with Alsace, close to Germany). The precious service remained stored and preserved for many decades in ordinary boxes. The undeniable proof of its totally original appearance ("deadstock") was the accumulation of dust over time: while the centers of the stacked plates remained protected and retained their original dazzling white, historical dust slowly infiltrated through the spaces created by the raised, wavy rims of the pieces. Visually, this confirms it had not been touched for more than 50 years. It has been recently cleaned entirely by hand and with utmost delicacy (no dishwasher) to remove the dust of time while preserving the integrity and absolute brilliance of its fine gold gilding.
Historical Description & Prestige:
We have the privilege of presenting a masterpiece of European tableware: a sumptuous fine porcelain service from the famous Carl Schumann Arzberg manufacture (Bavaria, Germany).
Expert inspection of the original green hallmark (the interlaced stylized "CS" monogram within a laurel wreath with the circular inscription Deutschland) allows dating this service precisely to the 1920–1925 period. Having traversed a century of history, this lot is officially classified as an Authentic Antique (over 100 years old), making it a rare and highly valuable collectible piece for the most discerning bidders.
This service embodies classic European luxury through its channeled Neo-Baroque silhouettes and its sumptuous fine gold gilding, features of prestige pieces from the interwar period.
The Masterpiece (The Grand Soup Tureen):
A true work of art and the pinnacle of Schumann’s craftsmanship, the grand tureen captivates with its undulating handles enhanced by unusually thick gilding. Its lid, crowned with a fully gold-leaf handle, displays a design of captivating geometric and floral finesse, whose gold gleam has remained impeccably preserved.
Exclusive Note – Prestige Gift (Included Free of Charge):
To complete this exceptional lot, a round service platter with integrated handles and a richly gilded border is included free for the buyer. Coming from the prestigious French manufacturer Porcelaines Ribes Limoges France, this high-value platter harmonizes with the set, both by the whiteness of its porcelain and the brilliance of its gilding. A unique opportunity to bring together on one table two historic jewels of European porcelain: Bavaria and Limoges.
State & Condition Report:
Overall Condition: The service is in superb, pristine conservation for a century-old antique ("Deadstock" quality from old storage).
Integrity: Absolutely NO chipping, NO cracks, and NO hairlines. All pieces are intact.
Gilding: The fine gold remains particularly radiant, bright, and beautifully preserved across the entire service.
Transparency Detail: In the interest of rigorous honesty, there is simply a tiny dark cooking mark (pinhead-sized) on the lid of the tureen, barely perceptible to the naked eye and original. It has deliberately not been scraped to preserve the original gold.
The 56 German pieces bear the authentic mark engraved on the underside: "Bavaria Schumann" (date 1920), and the offered platter carries the official Limoges mark.
Official Composition of the Lot (Total: 56 Schumann Pieces + 1 Free Limoges Platter):
- 24x Large flat plates (Schumann Bavaria)
- 12x Cereal/Soup Plates (Schumann Bavaria)
- 12x Dessert/Ct cake plates (Schumann Bavaria)
