Description from the seller
Description of the Artifact: Rectangular Antique Linen/Organza Blend Tablecloth/Bedspread with Lace and Multicolored Embroidery
Type: Monumental high-representation dining tablecloth / rectangular bedspread, entirely handmade according to the noblest traditions of vintage textile craftsmanship.
Base Fabric: Ivory-white fabric, very fine and semi-transparent (resembling a cotton or very light linen organza), characterized by a fresh, taut, and transparent hand that lends lightness to the whole structure.
Work and Lace Inserts: The piece is structured around an imposing geometric grid in filet-type network lace (handmade work of the Cantù-type lace). The mullions create medallion-shaped frames and a large central rectangle, decorated with motifs of geometric rosettes and crenellated edges that elegantly finish the outer perimeter.
Decorative Embellishments and Embroidery:
Stitches used: Embroidery entirely executed by hand in satin stitch, grass stitch, rodi stitch (for the openings inside the flowers) and pittura stitch for color shading.
Basket Motifs: Inside the textile medallions stand stylized baskets in beige/ochre thread, rich with roses shaded in pink and fuchsia tones, enriched by green leaves and small blue buds.
Geometric and Isolated Floral Motifs: Delicate geometric compositions alternating with four-leaf-clover motifs embroidered in blue and white thread, finished at the center with extremely fine netting.
