Description from the seller

Partridge Wood Walking Cane with Sterling Silver Handle Mount, England, Chester, 1948

A refined English walking cane crafted from beautifully figured partridge wood, distinguished by its rich warm brown tones and naturally striped grain. The gently curved crook handle is fitted with an engraved sterling silver terminal hallmarked for Chester, 1948, adding a discreet decorative accent to an otherwise understated design.

Walking canes of this type were a hallmark of mid-century British craftsmanship, valued both as practical accessories and as expressions of quiet elegance. The attractive partridge wood shaft, with its characteristic contrasting bands, exemplifies the restrained sophistication associated with traditional English country house interiors.

The original silver collar beneath the handle is no longer present, as shown in the photographs. Otherwise the cane remains in good antique condition with an attractive patina, light wear consistent with age and use, and the original ferrule retained.
