The Essence, an ultra-limited 1st edition English-language art catalogue on graffiti by Dutch Graffiti Library for STRAAT Museum (Amsterdam), 34 pages, 21 × 29.7 cm, published in 2026, with one copy.
Description from the seller
Catalogue Rare / Limited Edition "the ESSENCE" – STRAAT Museum x Dutch Graffiti Library (2026) – Focus Origins & Abstraction
Attention graffiti culture collectors, art photography books enthusiasts, and urban art fans! I am offering this superb exhibition catalogue titled "the ESSENCE", published for the milestone event of 2026 at the prestigious STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam.
This project is the fruit of a major collaboration with the Dutch Graffiti Library, which opened its precious archives (more than 35 years of research). The work has been beautifully printed by Chemistry Publishing.
Ultra-limited edition of only 300 copies.
Far from the traditional XXL figurative murals of Street Art, "the ESSENCE" returns to the foundations and the secret codes of pure graffiti, exploring its almost conceptual and abstract dimension.
The pillars of the movement: a scholarly study of repetition, flow, line, original letterforms, and visual rhythm.
From New York to Amsterdam: the catalogue documents how the raw language of the New York subway in the 1980s fused with the graffiti scene and Dutch punk energy (notably through cult archival photos from New York in 1986, and historical figures from the Amsterdam and IJmuiden scenes such as Phoen, Disz, Shaker179, Cat22...).
A true visual journey through the graphic system that laid the foundations for contemporary urban art.
Shipped well packed with tracking, insurance, and signature
