Commemorative 10 Mark coin minted by the German Democratic Republic at the Berlin mint (mark A), dedicated to the inauguration of the new Gewandhaus building in Leipzig, one of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and home to the renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra. The obverse features an artistic composition with the name NEUES GEWANDHAUS LEIPZIG, an ornamental motif inspired by musical forms and the representation of the auditorium building at the bottom. The reverse shows the national emblem of the German Democratic Republic, accompanied by the official name of the state, the face value and the issue date. Struck in Proof quality, the specimen exhibits intense mirrored fields and frosted reliefs that create an extraordinary Deep Cameo contrast, with surfaces practically flawless and a magnificent visual appeal, qualities fully in line with the PR68 DCAM grade awarded by PCGS.
