Description from the seller
Mixed lot prepared for our followers of the world's finest ambers: Dominican red amber, Dominican green amber and Burmese blue amber.
37 grams of high-quality, completely translucent amber.
Dominican red and green amber is a type of amber with a clear and uncommon coloration. It is found mainly in the amber mines of the mountains near Santiago, Dominican Republic. Commonly known as red shell amber, it acquires its color because it is the first amber extracted, closest to the surface, which is heated the most by the earth. Although little known due to its rarity, it has existed since the discovery of Dominican amber. It reacts to ultraviolet light, as is already known. It is estimated to be between 25 and 44 million years old. Clear as water, completely transparent, a unique piece for collectors, never before auctioned on Catawiki, and of high quality. I must also confess its scarcity.
Burmese blue amber refers to a rare and special variety of amber (also called burmite or Myanmar/Burma amber) that displays bluish tones or blue-green optical effects, especially in sunlight, which is the only way to see its blue color.
Burmese amber comes from the Hukawng Valley in northern Myanmar (formerly Burma) and is much older than most ambers: it dates back to the Cretaceous period, about 99-100 million years ago.
If you are not sure about purchasing this lot, please do not take the opportunity away from another buyer; shipping is insured and well protected.
