Tobacco box - Brass

A rare 19th-century maritime brass tobacco box with a hinged lid, beautifully engraved with nautical motifs including anchors, a compass rose, and ornamental decorations. The lid bears the inscription "Capt. H. Meyer" and the date 1862, suggesting a personal tobacco box belonging to a sea captain.

The box has developed a beautiful natural patina over time and retains its authentic character. The interior is clean, and the hinge functions properly. Signs of age and use are consistent with its age of more than 160 years.
