Description from the seller

An iconic Philips L2X97T Personal Clock Radio from 1959, representing the dawn of the transistor era. This rare example is exceptionally complete, including the original cardboard box, leather zippered carrying case, instruction manual, and accessories.

The Swiss-made mechanical clock is stamped DEC 1959, while the clean battery compartment and untouched electronics confirm careful ownership. A handwritten 1984 note inside the case records that the batteries were removed to prevent leakage—explaining the remarkably well-preserved interior.
The radio has been tested and receives AM stations well. The mechanical clock is fully functional.
A wonderful collector's piece combining Dutch industrial design with early portable transistor technology.
