Fonola portable suitcase gramophone in good overall condition with non-tested functionality, Italian-made from the 1920s–30s, featuring a manual-wind mechanical acoustic system, 78 rpm platter, metal tonearm, and an integrated internal horn, weighing 20 kg and including an extra item as described.
Description from the seller
Fascinating Fonola portable gramophone, Italian production dating from the 1920s–1930s, a period of widespread mechanical sound reproduction systems before the advent of electronics.
The item presents itself in the classic briefcase configuration, designed for transport, with an outer shell covered and an interior in polished wood. Upon opening, the complete system is revealed: turntable, metal acoustic tonearm, and integrated internal horn.
A distinctive feature is the manual-wind mechanism, perfectly representative of the technology of the era: sound is amplified without electricity through a purely acoustic system.
Characteristics:
- Fonola brand clearly visible inside
- Briefcase-style structure with original latches
- 78 rpm turntable
- Polished metal tonearm
- Integrated internal horn
- Spring-driven mechanism with manual winding
- Production: Italy, circa 1920s–1930s
Conditions:
- In good overall condition for its age.
- Shows signs of use and wear consistent with an object approaching a century old. Mechanical parts present; operation to be checked/revised for optimal use (maintenance recommended).
Various 78 rpm shellac records (early to mid-20th century)
Editorial sets of classical music (e.g., Panorama of Immortal Music, Festival of Classical-Light Music)
Rigid albums/folders with illustrated covers
Loose discs and mixed collections
