Sewing box - Oak

Wooden, collapsible box.

A large oak accordion thread spool on legs.
Scandinavian style, mid-century modern, the 50s/60s. Country of origin of the item: the Netherlands.

The scissor mechanism opens to the sides and provides access to several levels of small drawers at once. At the top there are two lids with handles, and the whole thing can be carried by a handle.
Simple legs, nice grain, brass knobs.
The structural elements are oak wood, while the bottoms of the compartments and the underside are made of plywood, which was typical in such thread spools.

What it can be used for:
Originally it served as a spool/thread spool, i.e., a portable sewing organizer. In the sliding compartments, threads, needles, buttons, scissors, rulers and other small accessories were stored.
Today it can also be used as:
- organizer for jewelry, cosmetics or small items,
- container for art materials and
crafts,
- organizer for glasses, belts, scarves
- decorative vintage furniture,
- a small side table when closed.

The item is preserved in good, original vintage condition with signs of use appropriate for its age.
