Console table - Marble, Wood

I propose an entrance console with an original late 19th-century looking-glass (circa 1870-1890), a clear expression of the Napoleon III and Eclectic style of the era.

Main Features:

Materials and Finishes: The structure is made of elegant ebonized wood (black), finely embellished with a continuous band of inlays in precious mother-of-pearl (abalone) with iridescent reflections and delicate gold filigree.

Architecture and Details: The large upper looking glass is framed by two imposing half-column pilasters, topped by elegant gilded Corinthian capitals. The lower part rests on four turned feet joined by a curvilinear, shaped connector.

The Top: Completed by an original dark veined marble top (with beveled and shaped moldings), which creates a beautiful chromatic contrast with the black wood and the light of the mother-of-pearl.

The Mirrors: The console is adorned with two mirrors (one large upper main mirror and a bottom-back mirror). Both are original to the period and feature the characteristic sought-after oxidation bloom (mercury mirror), which certifies the piece’s authenticity and gives it that lived-in, romantic charm that only true antiquarian pieces possess.

Condition:
The piece appears in good overall preserved condition. Being an antique item with over a century of history, it shows physiological and normal signs of aging (e.g., slight chipping at the base of the wooden frame and light wear to the gilding on the columns), which do not compromise its stability or aesthetics.
