Vintage Limited Edition “The World of AKIRA KUROSAWA Poster Cards” – Complete Set of 30 Unused Postcards (1999)

This official postcard collection, titled “The World of AKIRA KUROSAWA Poster Cards,” was released in 1999 by Japan Post (formerly the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications).

The set was produced to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of Postal Services in Okinawa as a joint project between Okinawa Postal Services and the Tokyo Postal Bureau. Only 100,000 sets were issued and sold exclusively through selected post offices in Japan. The edition sold out quickly and has since become a sought-after collectible among admirers of Japanese cinema.

The collection contains 30 unused postcard reproductions featuring theatrical posters from all of Akira Kurosawa’s films, beautifully printed in full color. It also includes the original presentation box and the accompanying booklet.

An excellent collectible celebrating one of the most influential film directors in cinematic history.

Artist Profile
Akira Kurosawa (1910–1998) was one of Japan’s greatest film directors and screenwriters. During a career spanning more than five decades, he directed internationally acclaimed masterpieces including Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Ikiru, Yojimbo, High and Low, Kagemusha, and Ran. His innovative storytelling and cinematic techniques profoundly influenced filmmakers around the world, including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola. Kurosawa received numerous international awards, including an Academy Honorary Award for his lifetime achievements in cinema.

I personally source items from old Japanese warehouses, local antique markets, and private collections. All items are carefully photographed and described to show their true condition.
