Decorative jardinière from 1850–1900, with a warm copper body and rich gilt brass ornaments, made in France, in good used condition with slight signs of aging, measuring 32 cm wide, 21 cm deep and 21 cm high.
Description from the seller
A splendid example of late 19th-century decorative art. This elegant jardinière combines a warm, glossy copper body with richly executed brass ornaments, emanating the refined aesthetics of the Belle Époque in every detail.
The body rests on four graceful legs shaped like bundles of twigs with leaves, executed in cast brass. Around the midsection, a detailed relief motif of rosevines with blossoms, buds and leaves winds its way—a classic motif referencing the romantic style of the period. On both sides are elegant brass handles attached. The upper rim is finished with an openwork gallery in pierced brass, giving the piece a rich crown-like finish.
The interior reveals the authentic patina that one only finds on a true antique: a beautiful greenish patina and oxidation that attest to more than a century of age.
A atmospheric decorative piece that deserves a place on a mantel, on a side table, or as a special planter for a houseplant. Rarely found so complete and with all ornaments intact.
