Silver 20 Kopeks coin minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, in the year marking the start of World War I. The obverse features the Russian imperial two-headed eagle crowned, with scepter and orb, bearing the Great Imperial Shield surrounded by territorial shields, in a heraldic composition of extraordinary richness and definition. The reverse shows the denomination and the date in the center, crowned by the imperial crown and framed by an elegant open crown of laurel and oak branches joined by a bow at the bottom. The specimen preserves an intense original mint lustre, with reliefs fully defined and clean fields that enhance the quality of the engraving, presenting only slight surface marks in keeping with the outstanding MS65 rating awarded by NGC. This issue belongs to the last silver coinages of the Russian Empire before the profound political and economic changes that permanently transformed the country after the Great War and the 1917 Revolution.
