Description from the seller
A refined early 20th-century English silver-plated covered butter dish of elegant rectangular form with rounded corners, raised on four compressed bun feet and fitted with angular loop handles. The removable flat cover is surmounted by a sculptural loop finial, lending a subtle Arts & Crafts character to the otherwise understated design. The dish retains its original frosted glass liner, providing both practicality and an attractive contrast to the bright silver-plated finish.
The underside is stamped N&W EPNS. The restrained proportions and clean architectural lines reflect the high standard of English silver plate produced during the early decades of the 20th century.
Presented in good antique condition with light surface wear, minor scratches and gentle rubbing to the plating consistent with age and careful use. The original frosted glass liner is intact.
