Description from the seller

An exceptionally large and detailed baking form – a true marvel of folk art.

For the auction, an impressive hand-carved speculoos mold, with a rare height of 75 cm.
This form was originally used in an artisanal bakery to make ceremonial cakes or as a showroom/display piece.

Key features:

Craftsmanship: The figurine is deeply and richly carved. The clear traces of hand-sculpting (planing) are evident, which enhances authenticity.

Condition and patina: The inner edges of the sculpture have been lightly polished and smoothed by decades of use and cleaning – a typical feature of a genuine antique working tool (usage patina). The wood is heavy (1.15 kg) and displays a beautiful dark coloration.

Decorative value: Because of its imposing size of 75 cm, the piece reads as a particularly striking wall object and draws the eye in any kitchen or collection of historic cooking utensils.

The wood is in very good overall condition with no notable cracks, which is rare for such a long piece. An object rich in history and character.
