Description from the seller
A unique opportunity to become the owner of one of the most charming British Roadsters ever built: this original 1960 Austin Healey Sprite Mk1 “Frogeye.”
The car was originally delivered in the United States and came to the Netherlands in 2000. In 2018–2019 it underwent a professional, full restoration.
Bodywork & Paint:
The body is in excellent condition and presents beautifully in British Racing Green, a color that perfectly suits its classic character. During the restoration the paint was completely renewed and has since retained its deep shine.
All body panels align nicely, and rust-prone areas such as the wheel arches and sills are in sublime condition. The chrome is bright and sparkling, contributing to the authentic appearance of this timeless classic.
The underframe is in very solid condition, with no signs of damage or repairs to load-bearing parts. The car exudes care and attention to detail in every aspect.
Mechanical:
Technically this Sprite is in excellent condition and road-ready. The engine starts readily, runs smoothly and delivers the characteristic light, sporty driving feel. The gearbox shifts as it should—tight and without extraneous noises—and the brakes and suspension perform excellently, helped by the rebuild during restoration.
The tires are in very good condition, with plenty of tread. Periodic maintenance has been carried out after the restoration, with important components checked or replaced, such as brakes, carburetors.
This car is ready for any trip – with no immediate maintenance needs.
Interior:
The interior has been fully restored in style, with tastefully finished black upholstery featuring green piping – a subtle reference to the exterior. Everything is neat and well-kept, from the seats to the dashboard, and all gauges and electricals function as they should.
The hood has been renewed and is sharply fitted. In addition, a tonneau cover and a hard top are included – ideal for varying weather conditions.
Documentation:
The car is supplied with an original Dutch registration certificate and an appraisal report from Steijn Sportcars Taxaties (2019) valued at €21,500.
Summary:
This Austin Healey Sprite “Frogeye” is a stunning classic in very well-kept condition. It combines timeless British charm with reliable mechanics and a stylish interior. Thanks to the extensive restoration, it is a beautiful addition for enthusiasts and collectors – ready to enjoy.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
